Help us save a little Necton history

Back in September 2003, children from Necton School created a beautiful work of art. This collage of colourful tiles was installed on the wall of the old school. The NATTY Team would like to save this local art from being demolished when the demolition team arrive on site in a few weeks time. We need your help!

Did you help create this? We would love to hear your story. Drop us an email or give us a call.

We've assessed the viability of removing this artwork from the wall and it is possible. We think it would be good to install it in the new Queen Elizabeth Memorial Woodland (old Marlpit). We'd love to hear what you think of this idea. Pop your comments below, or contact us direct.

Thanks for your support. The good news is that the Parish Council fully support this initiative, so now we're looking for some volunteers with specific skills in bricklaying to help us build a foundation and plinth as the new home in the wood for this artwork.

It is so important to save anything which was made by the people of Necton. The pupils who made the tiles have had many memories jogged. Can you imagine the importance to their children, yes and grandchildren? How exciting will it be to find parents or grandparents were part of the making? Perhaps a list of the tile makers could be part of this project? Well done for thing of saving it! Mary Jackman

Thanks for your positive comments, Mary. We do plan on adding a list of tile makers to the display once installed. It would be great if we got permission from every tile maker to list their name. If we get the green light from the Parish Council for this project, we aim to contact tile makers and invite them to take part in this project. Gabbie (NAT)
