The Queen Elizabeth Memorial Wood (QEM Wood) has been firmly placed on the Necton map, with two new signs installed on Kett's Hill.

These signs, beautifully hand-crafted by local artisan, Avenue Woodwork, were commissioned and installed to make our wonderful community wood more accessible to Necton residents.

The community woodland is a great place for walking, running and even cycling (no motors allowed). Now as Spring develops, visitors will see fresh green shoots appearing along the path verges, several clumps of naturalised daffodils and primroses, tree flower buds plumping up and many small birds darting about gathering building materials for their nests.

NAT volunteers are regularly at the wood; this time of the year, focusing on essential tree management. Unfortunately much valuable time has been diverted to clearing up from a few individuals who have little regard for the wood. Despite this, there are many exciting new developments planned for this year, the most significant being a public entrance from a new footpath along St Andrew's Lane (funded by NCC Parish Partnership Scheme and Necton Parish Council).

QEM Wood is a unique community amenity in our village and a place that is open and accessible to all. Information signage at the entrance gate explains the site history and how to get the best experience from your visit.
